History of UPSC

In 1923 British government set up superior civil services in India under the chairmanship of Lord Lee of Fareham With equal numbers of Indian and British members and later this led to the establishment of the Public Service Commission under the chairmanship of Sir Ross Barker.

Later Public Service Commission reconstituted as Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) by the Government of India Act 1935 and The Federal Public Service Commission became the Union Public Service Commission after independence.
